THE BEST SERVICE
Reprogenetics serves more than 100 IVF centers in the USA alone, including most of those with the best pregnancy outcomes. For faster analysis we have laboratories on both US coasts: San Francisco, CA (near airport), and West Orange, NJ (near Newark airport). Reprogenetics also has laboratories in Barcelona, Spain and Kobe, Japan.
Embryo biopsy and fixation services:
Reprogenetics offers PGD for all indications, including aneuploidy, translocations, gene defects and HLA matching. Specialists at Reprogenetics train embryologists to perform biopsy and fixation procedures, or alternatively, Reprogenetics can place a trained embryologist in your laboratory within two weeks notice, to perform biopsy and fixation, through our active relationship with IVF Labs, LLC . PGD cases can only be accepted after fixation samples have been evaluated by our laboratory in order to assure the best results. If those samples are not acceptable we retrain embryologists from client centers if needed.
PGD of aneuploidy:
Reprogenetics tests chromosomes X, Y, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21 and 22. This is based on trisomies arriving to term (XY,13,18,21), common in spontaneous abortions (16,22,15,21) and most common aneuploidies found in day 3 embryos (22,16,21,15,17) (Munné et al, Reprod Biomed Online, 2004: 8:81-90).
In addition, for those cells with questionable results, we reanalyze with telomeric probes, which bind to a different locus, and therefore may discriminate probe overlaps or split signals (Colls et al. 2004, Prenat Diagn 24:741-744), thus reducing our error rate to very low levels.
Laboratory time is 6-12 hours after sample arrival; perhaps longer if a third round of telomeric probes is needed.
We can accommodate requests for additional analysis of other chromosomes not involved in the standard test.
For preparing and scheduling a PGD case please follow our "PGD for aneuploidy information pack".
PGD of Translocations:
Reprogenetics scientists have invented and developed most of the PGD approaches to translocations (Munné et al. 1998,
Fertile Sterile 69:675; Munné et al. 1998; Human Genet, 102:663; Willadsen et al. 1999, Human Reprod 14:470-475; Munné et al. 2000, Fertil Steril. 73:1209; Escudero et al. 2003, Fertil Steril 79: supl 3:1528) and have the widest experience, with over 608 cycles performed to September 15, 2005.
Translocations and other chromosome rearrangements can be diagnosed by PGD using FISH with custom made probe cocktails involving three to four probes. Test with two probes, offered by other centers, may miss some segregation patterns.
Before a PGD cycle can start, blood studies from the carrier as well as extensive preparation of the test is necessary, and therefore these tests should be scheduled well in advance of the IVF procedure. These tests are coordinated through our genetic councilor and a deposit is required.
PGD for translocations can be combined with PGD for aneuploidy, but priority will be given to obtaining translocation results.

PGD of Gene Defects:
Reprogenetics offers PGD for any genetic disease with an identified mutation. As for translocations, before a PGD cycle can start, blood studies from both parents as well as extensive preparation of the test is necessary, and therefore these tests should be scheduled in advance of the IVF procedure. These tests are coordinated through our genetic councilor and a deposit is required.
Reprogenetics is the only center licensed to perform this service in the State of New York, the only state regulating PGD to date (sept 15, 2005).
For preparing and scheduling a PGD case please follow our "Information PGD for gene defects".
Genetic Counseling and patient information:
Pursuant to the New York State Civil Rights Law, informed consent is required for the performance of a genetic test for any individual. Genetic counseling of the patient is therefore recommended as part of the informed consent required. Such counseling is best prepared by the genetic counselors associated with the laboratory performing the testing.
Reprogenetics has a staff of genetic
consultants and is recommended for every patient
undergoing PGD. Such consultation can be done by phone
or in person and a letter documenting the counseling
will be provided. For further questions or to arrange
for consultation, please contact Blgst. Paul
Lopez, phone (511) 272-2444 or Fax: (511)
271-6776 or Cell : (511) 9827-8984 or write an Email
to: lab-PGD@reprogenetics.com.pe
Genetic counseling fees are included in our PGD tests.
In addition to genetic counseling we provide brochures for patients and clinics, with detailed protocols for sample preparation and case coordination, and other information to aid in your discussion with patients, including the latest data which may not yet be published.
We can also link your website to ours (www.reprogenetics.com.pe) for convenience and greater visibility of your center.
